Static Shear Strength of Single-Lap Joint Using Eggshell-Toughened Epoxy as Adhesive Agent

چکیده
Eggshells are daily food waste disposed of in landfills, producing environmentalissues and an unpleasant odour. were crushed to form eggshell powder may be suitably applied as a filler epoxy resins improve their mechanical properties. The shear strength toughened with (TEEP) wasstudied. Single-lap joint (SLJ) sheartests conducted toinvestigate the SLJbonded different volume fractionsof TEEP. For this purpose, eggshells dried into particles size 150μm. fraction resin is 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 10% by weight. system was made EPIKOTE Resin 828 Hardener 651 mixing ratio 5:2 weight. The results show that shearstrength greatly depended upon overlap lengthand fractions. The improvement up 72.7% 39.9%,with longest length 5% TEEP fraction.Hence, 38.1 mm gave optimum 5.045 kN.

Three-dimensional modeling of carbon/epoxy to titanium single-lap joints with variable adhesive recess length
The objective of this paper was to investigate the performance of recessed single-lap joints with dissimilar adherends through the finite element method. The influence of material and geometric nonlinearity of the adhesive as well as the impact of the recess length was examined in terms of maximum principal stresses. The strength of the joint was obtained as the load to initiate the crack propa...
متن کاملAdhesive Bonding Lap Shear Strength Improvement of Cfr(peek) Laminates by Surface Morphology Modifications
In this paper, an experimental study concerning the effect of surface morphology on mechanical properties of adhesive bonding behaviour of continuous carbon fibres reinforced PEEK was performed. Surface morphology of PEEK composite was varied by sandblasting process. 3D morphological parameters were calculated from interferometry measurements. Surface wettability behaviour was studied by depose...
متن کاملStrength Prediction in CFRP Woven Laminate Bolted Single-Lap Joints under Quasi-static Loading using XFEM
This paper is concerned with modelling damage and fracture in woven fabric CFRP single-lap bolted joints that fail by net-tension. The approach is based on the assumption that damage (matrix cracking, delamination and fibre tow fracture) initiates and propagates from the hole in a self-similar fashion. A traction-separation law (based on physically meaningful material parameters) is implemented...

متن کاملEvaluation of Fatigue Damage in Adhesive Bonding: Part 2: Single lap joint
Damage parameters for crack initiation in Single Lap Joint (SLJ) are determined by combining continuum damage mechanics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and fatigue experimental data. Even tough SLJ has a simple configuration; the stresses in the adhesive region are quite complex and exhibit a multi-axial state. Such a condition leads to the need to introduce a general value of triaxiality functi...
